The Knicks beat the Wizards 117-99 away. Derek Ross was efficient. He played as a substitute in 19 minutes. He made 4 of 7 shots, scored 15 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. However, he didn’t play in the fourth quarter because of ankle pain.

After the game, when talking about Ross’s injury, Knicks coach xibodu said: “he had a collision on the court, some bruises, but he will be fine.”

Ross himself said it was not serious, suggesting that it might be because sibodu’s training camp was too hard. “It’s not serious at all,” Rose said. “But it may get worse if I continue to play. It’s just the second game. Everything is new and all kinds of movements. Sibutu’s training camp is completely different. I can only take my time. I’m getting old. I twisted it, but it’s not serious. Sibutu will understand what happened when I get off the court.”

In the first game of the preseason, the Knicks beat the Pacers, but Ross was in a flat state. He got 8 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists from only 2 of 10 shots.

In August, Ross signed a three-year, $43 million contract extension with the Knicks. Rose moved to the Knicks from the pistons last season, averaging 14.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
