Today, the NBA officially announced a rule change to restrict some “non basketball” fouls from the summer league.
The specific restricted actions are as follows:
The shooter tilts to the defender at an abnormal angle;
The attacking player suddenly deviates from his route (sideways or backward) to contact the defender;
Offensive players kick at an abnormal angle;
The attacking player hooked the defender with his arm.
NBA officials said that if such actions are minor, they will not call fouls. If these actions have a slightly greater impact on defenders (speed, balance and rhythm), they will be called offensive fouls.
